You’re planning your wedding and you want to know how to elope at the Utah State Capitol, so let’s talk about it.

First of all, pictures here are stunning. They are classy, elegant, timeless and just give off this expensive or old money feeling. As a photographer, I love the architecture, the symmetry, the stone columns, the archways the white granite. It’s basically impossible to take a bad photo in this space.

So that leads us to the question- how do you elope here?

OPTION 1: reserve an event space and select which part of the Capitol you’d like to use.

• Rotunda– This is the main area when you first enter. It includes the grand staircase in the rotunda where couples can descend from each side and be wed on the main stairs. 
• White Chapel– A nondenominational meetinghouse that can seat 160 people. It’s located in the southeast corner of the Capitol grounds. The rental rate is $1,000 per day, and rehearsal reservations are available for $250. 
• East Plaza– This is an outdoor space off of the Capitol with views of Salt Lake City and the mountains. You can use it for weddings, receptions, and socials. 
• West Plaza- Another outdoor space that has beautiful views of the cityscape.
• Aspen Room– Located on the first floor of the Senate Building, this room can seat 20 people at tables and has 24 additional chairs around the room. The rental rate is $50 per hour.
